SNS Warehouse & Yard Assistant

 

SNS Building Products distributes metal, plastic & concrete building materials to House Builders in the central south. SNS is a family-run, regional business with a growth plan and is looking for like-minded people to join us on our exciting journey.

 

The main activity of this role will be to accurately pick orders for despatch either on our own vehicles, by carrier, or for collection by Trade Counter customers. Also accurately checking off & putting away incoming stock from suppliers. You will be expected to demonstrate great customer service & have a passion for organisation and tidiness.

 

Picking orders includes collating and packing items ordered by customers from our warehouse and yard, then loading vehicles in delivery order to enable easy off-loading at destinations. Vehicles are loaded during the afternoon to enable a prompt start for the delivery drivers the next morning. Accuracy in order picking is essential to maintain customer satisfaction and company efficiency. This role will involve both inside & outside work. You will be trained to use our handheld scanners to accurately pick & check items.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Order picking and packing
  • Putting away incoming stock
  • Fork lift driving
  • Daily stock checks
  • Assisting customers in yard picking products & loading vehicles
  • Keeping warehouse and yard areas clean and tidy
  • Other related duties as required

 

Requirements:

  • Strong team player prepared to go the extra mile
  • Physically fit & healthy – this is a manual job often lifting heavy items
  • Counterbalance forklift licence (refresher training will be given when required)
  • Positive helpful attitude
  • Contribute to maintaining Health & Safety
  • Good communication skills
  • Knowledge of building products an advantage
  • Neat & tidy disposition is a must

 

Location: Reading

Hours: Monday-Friday 07.00-17.00 – additional time at the end of the day may be necessary during busy periods.

Holidays: 28 days per year including bank holidays. 4-5 days Christmas shutdown, option to purchase up to 5 additional days holiday. No weekend work.

 

Reporting to: Logistics Supervisor

 

SNS is very aware of Health & Safety issues and all regulations, especially Manual Handling, must be adhered to for your own well-being and those around you. Personal protective equipment will be provided as necessary. The company has a no-smoking policy.

Trade Centre Sales Assistant

 

Established in 1974, SNS Building Products Ltd is one of the leading independent suppliers of building products across Central and Southern England. SNS is a family-run, regional business with a growth plan and is looking for like-minded people to join us on our exciting journey.

 

Based at our busy Farnborough Trade Centre, you will be working alongside our current warehouse supervisor. Your primary role will be serving customers on the trade counter and ensuring the shop stock is accurate & tidy. You will be responsible for maintaining a tidy working environment. You will learn processes & procedures in Trade Counter Sales & also general operations to ensure the smooth running of this trade centre, which has between 40-70 customers per day.

 

Duties to include:

  • Serving & assisting customers who collect goods via the Trade Counter
  • Working with Orderwise, our ERP system
  • Merchandising, restocking & tidying stock
  • Order picking for collections & stock transfers
  • Daily stock checks
  • Cashing up the till at end of each day
  • Hours are 06.30 – 16.30, Monday- Friday

 

Required skillsets:

  • Ability to manage and prioritise workload
  • Communication skills
  • Self-starter – Achieve tasks on your own initiative
  • IT competency
  • Forklift experience (We will conduct training if required)
  • Always prepared to work as an enthusiastic team member
  • Commit to completing tasks to a high standard, on time, and accurately
  • Adherence to all Company systems and working practices with a commitment to improve productivity and promote best practice
  • Compliance with Company procedures regarding Health & Safety, security & confidentiality
